Rackmounts
Everything goes in the rack.
We keep our own equipment in racks. We design rackmounts for our favorite gear, sized for both 19-inch racks and 10-inch home-lab racks where the equipment allows.
Multiple rack sizes
Full rack, half rack, or 10-inch.
Different setups need different rack formats. We make our rack ears in the rack sizes our customers use, so the same gear fits a server room rack or a closet rack.
Full rack. The standard 19-inch rack format used in most server rooms, AV rigs, and home labs. The default size for most of our rack ears.
Half rack. Uses only one side of a 19-inch rack, so you can install two units side by side in a single rack U.
10-inch rack. The compact home-lab format. Same equipment, smaller footprint, for closet network racks and small home setups.
Smart rackmounting
Details off-the-shelf rack ears miss.
We don't believe in throwing a generic ear on a piece of equipment and calling it racked. Take the Firewalla Gold: it ships with a power brick that most people end up tossing loose in the rack, with the tiny DC cable running awkwardly to the unit. Our Firewalla rackmount kit includes a power-brick holder, so the brick sits tight against the back of the unit where it belongs.
Other features we like to add to our rackmounts: buttons, heat vents, Cat6 keystones, and keystone slots for your own cable passthroughs.
